CHRISTMAS IDEALS – 65 years of beautiful art and photos, and heartwarming words of joy and inspiration.
Once, in a house on Egypt Street, there lived a china rabbit named Edward Tulane. The rabbit was very pleased with himself, and for good reason: he was owned by a girl named Abilene, who treated him with the utmost care and adored him completely. And then, one day, he was lost.
Sometimes in life, what goes around comes around. A boy named Rudy breaks his mom’s treasured vase and blames his little brother and sister. His mom sends him on an errand and he trips into a hole where he finds a vase similar to the one he broke. He picks it up and out comes a cloud that becomes a creature that offers him three wishes. Rudy soon stumbles into an adventure that helps him see things in a different light.

My name is Ella Johnson. I started Mymcbooks to promote reading. As a former teacher, I know that making basic education fundamentals interesting to children can be challenging. Education can be fun, exciting and captivating for children with the right learning tools. So my goal is to “make learning interesting and fun” for the children while they learn, by introducing them to fun books with colorful and captivating illustrations.
In 2009, I start the giveaway program giving away free school supplies at random to 2 winners each year. I also started a monthly free giveaways for books and gifts.
August 2010, I extended the free school supplies from 2 to 5 winners at random on my blog and also give away 20 bags full of school supplies to familes in need at Chick-fil-A in Brandon, Florida during their family nights. And in 2012, I beat my that number and gave away a lot of school supplies to needy families. Hopefully, I can continue to do this each year.
In 2011, I started writing reviews on children’s books then giving these books away free on Mymcbooks Blog. I increase the number of books we giveaway free to help support parent. My goal is to give away as many as I can each year. This is also a great way to introduce parents to new books.
Mymcbooks blog is always looking for other ways to give kids free books. So I started Mymcbooks Birthday Library http://mymcbooksbirthdaylibrary.wordpress.com/
My goal is to giveaway at least 300 books to children each year.

My grandson would love to read the children’s books. It’s important for little ones to read. I think my choice would also be the first two books. All of them look interesting and I read most genres. Thanks .
All of the books sound interesting. The descriptions of the children’s books sound great…I would love to give them to my niece. For myself, I’d have to pick the first two on the list.

I think that this is a great idea and thank you for the giveaway. I know that my daughter would love to read the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. My youngest son can relate to Rudy and Kirrus of Karma, something I think would be right up his alley. I would love to read Tidewater Inn and The Welcoming Committee of Butternut Creek. They both sound like wonderful reads. Again thank you for the giveaway!

I’ve wanted to read The Welcome Committee for a long time, so that would be great! I already have Etched Upon My Heart!
I have several of these books on my wishlist right now, winning three of them would certainly save Santa some money and make him very happy this Christmas 🙂

The Rudy and Cirrus of Karma sounds like an interesting spin on the classic Christmas tale! I would also love to see the Christmas Ideals – beautiful pictures like these are nice to see!
I would love to read Tidewater Inn and I know my grandchildren would enjoy The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and Rudy and Kirrus of Karma. I always enjoy giving my grandchildren books. I want them to enjoy reading as much as I do. These sound like ones that they will like!

First off, I do have to say thank you for hosting, because I always think it is awesome of bloggers to host. I also know, as a blogger myself, what the giveaways entail. I love the covers of all your books, as well as the descriptions of each, but based on the covers I would choose would be The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and Christmas Ideals. Based upon the author’s name alone (Colleen, I favor that name a little) I would have to make my third choice Tidewater Inn! Again, thank you!

You always do have some of the most interesting books. I haven’t heard of these, but definitely see a few that my Mother In Law would enjoy. Etched upon my Heart looks fabulous. Books are one of my favorite gifts to give.

Tidewater Inn catches my eye the most, something about the cover makes you want to start reading! I love the dirt roads, reminds of me of the southern ways 😉 I have even followed your blog. Thank you so much for bringing these books to my attention. We are all Grateful for you as well.

These books all sound good. My daughter just did a report on Edward tulane at school and really enjoyed it.
I would love to win Rudy and Cirrus of Karma. My kids need this book. My daughter spilled some soup and I said that the person responsible should help clean it up. She then told me that her baby sister who was fast asleep and does not eat soup spilled it and said “Bad! Bad!” and pointed at her. She is running for public office next week.
I would love to read THE WELCOME COMMITTEE OF BUTTERNUT CREEK. I’ll bet some of their antics are hysterical. I married a preacher 24 years ago. His new church was in a hurry to marry him off also, lol.
I really want to read Christmas Ideals and Butternut Creek. I love reading winter themed books.

I would love to read Tidewater Inn and I love the book cover. I giggled when I read about the Welcome Committee of Butternut Creek, the two widows who’s first order of business was to find a wife for the minister.I am sure they would be very busy! The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane sounds like a cute adventure!
My grandmother used to receive Ideal books through the mail and she would send me one for my birthday or Christmas every once in a while because she knew I loved poems. I still have them and the ones that were left when she died. They have such beautiful pictures, awesome poems and stories. Thank you
I’m in North Carolina so I’d like to read Tidewater Inn. Every year, I say I’m going to get to the OB but I haven’t yet. I’m at the Southeastern cost of the state so I have my own beaches to go to but I do love to read about coastal NC.
Tidewater Inn is on my TBR pile. Edward Tulane kind of reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit, which I haven’t read in years!
I actually own a ton of the Ideals books, including that Christmas one!
If I won, I would most likely pick 2 of the kids book for my niece (who will be almost 7 at Christmas) because we can’t afford to give her a lot for Christmas & then Tidewater for me, because you know, I have to be a little selfish!

I’ve only today discovered your wonderful blog. When I read the blurb for Etched upon My Heart, I remembered all the times I’ve tried to wrestle stories from my grandfather so I’d know more about his life growing up. He’s in his 90s now and he has so much to teach me, but he remains close mouthed. He is the closest to perfect of any man I’ve ever seen. He is a gentleman, through and through, and truly believes that one speak only good or not speak at all. I thank you for offering such thought-provoking books. Each one elicited some important thought or memory.

Christmas Ideals sounds like a fantastic book! Plus I love the cover. As someone who enjoys history, I think it would be neat to compare our present day traditions and cultures with those of decades past.

Im so busy that sometimes I really don’t have a whole lot of time for my son other than homework time. So at night we read a book and I saw a couple I think we would enjoy.
The Christmas Ideals would be great to have out for holidays to see how others have celebrated in the past.
I’d like to read the adult books. They sound interesting. The Christmas Ideals sounds like a fantastic book, especially at this time of year. My son or daughter would enjoy the childrens book. I would have time deciding which ones to pick if I won.

I have Tide water Inn and Welcome creek on my wish list been wanting to read them for a while the Christmas ideals would be an awesome addition to my family’s Christmas set up been reading to my kiddos so i will be adding Rudy and Cirrus of Karma tothe books i need to pick up for me to read to them ty for posting books id enjoy and ty for the opertunity to win

Tidewater Inn looks like a book totally describing my dreams (well except for the man, I’ve got a great one). Wouldn’t it be remarkable to inherit an inn and live in such a dreamy locale? I always have enjoyed Colleen’s books. She is very talented with place and people. Now The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane…how could you not be pulled in immediately by the cover and then have those thoughts of “whatever happened to this dear toy of mine?” Sounds like a real pleaser! Would be nice books to read for the holidays
All of these books sound great. The children’s books would be great for our granddaughter.
The selection of books are wonderful. I have been wanting to read Jill Kelly’s book “Etched..Upon My Heart” since I have seen her interview on TV. This books sounds like it is moving and touching that I would love to read.
Your reviews are always helpful in choosing a book that would be great to share with my niece and nephew. rudy and cirrus of karma seems like it would be a good read. Might even help teach them a little lesson on the way.
I enjoy reading books in a variety of subjects. I look forward to checking out these titles.
