Keepsake that Educates!

Book Review and Giveaway: Living Green – A Turtle’s Quest for a Cleaner Planet. Ends Jan 17th

About: Living Green: A Turtle’s Quest for a Cleaner Planet by Artie Knapp illustrated by MJ Illustrations.

Tired of seeing the land he loves cluttered with trash, Thurman the turtle decides its time to take action.

My Review: When Miss Taylor Turtley wedding day was ruining with bags of trash thrown from the overpass by passing cars, Thurman the turtle decided it was time to take action. He could no longer sit by and let the land he loves become cluttered with trash.

This book not only encourages children to get involve with their environment and keeping the planet safe, but respecting it as well. Parents and teachers can use this book to instill in their children that we are all responsible and must do our part to keep our planet clean and safe.

Thurman the turtle said “Living Green it’s up to you!”

The illustrations by MJ are gorgeous and perfectly compliment the text. I highly recommend this book for classroom teaching.

  1. It’s so important to teach children about the world and the environment. Books like this are wonderful because they are easy for kids to understand and the cover shows how Thurman cleans up which is excellent to teach kids.

  3. I love that it shows the turtle doing something himself, instead of simply waiting for someone else to take care of it. We try to instill that both environmentally and otherwise.

  7. Thurman is a cute character. It is outstanding how much influence a child’s book can have on a kid.

Like the author said in the interview, Thurman influenced a young girl to pick up trash just from reading this book.

Planet Earth needs more Thurman’s to encourage our children to be green.

  9. I would love to win this giveaway!
There are so few good children’s books out there anymore, especially with a good lesson behind it. With our world of computers and televisions, it’s difficult to find books that will hold a child’s interest. Young people need to find their love of reading at an early age, or it’s unlikely that they ever will. I was a very early reader because I was introduced to books farther back than my memories go, and I still love reading to this day!
    Much success!

  10. I think Living Green is a great way to enable children to help make our planet a cleaner greener place. I know they like to remind me to turn the water off while I’m brushing my teeth so it’s important to teach the lessons as early as possible.

  13. I think it’s amazing that this idea was put on paper for children. It’s very important to grow up having this kind of stuff drilled into your head. If more people did this our planet would be better off! I’d love to get my daughter and myself started on being green 🙂

  16. I’d love a chance to share this book with my kids! My little one knows that littering is bad and why, but it would really reinforce what I am trying to teach him if he could see the impact that trash has on wildlife!
