25679850

Authors: Boaz Yakin, Jennifer Li Shotz, Sheldon Lettich

This movie novelization of the soon-to-be major motion picture tells the story of a canine hero.

When Justin’s older brother, Kyle, is killed in Afghanistan, Justin can’t believe that his brother is really gone. Except there’s one thing that Kyle left behind…

Max is a highly trained military canine who has always protected his fellow soldiers. But when he loses his handler and best friend, Kyle, Max is traumatized and unable to remain in the service.

He is sent home to America, where the only human he connects with is Justin, and he is soon adopted by Kyle’s family, essentially saving his life. At first Justin has no interest in taking care of his late brother’s troubled dog. However, the two learn to trust each other, which helps the four-legged veteran become his heroic self once more. As the pair start to unravel the mystery of what really happened to Kyle, they find more excitement—and danger—than they bargained for. But they might also find an unlikely new best friend—in each other.

Book written by Jennifer Li Shotz. Based on a screenplay by Boaz Yakin and Sheldon Lettich

Author/Book Spotlight & Giveaway: The Turtle Of Oman. Ends Apr 8th

The Turlte of Oman

The Turtle of Oman by Naomi Shihab Nye

In this brief novel, told in short chapters by the acclaimed poet and National Book Award finalist Naomi Shihab Nye, Aref Al-Amri says good-bye to everything and everyone he loves in his hometown of Muscat, Oman, as his family prepares to move to Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is Naomi Shihab Nye’s first novel set in the Middle East since her acclaimed Habibi.

Aref Al-Amri does not want to leave Oman. He does not want to leave his elementary school, his friends, or his beloved grandfather, Siddi. He does not want to live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where his parents will go to graduate school. His mother is desperate for him to pack his suitcase—but he refuses. Finally, she calls Siddi for help. But rather than pack, Aref and Siddi go on a series of adventures. They visit the camp of a thousand stars deep in the desert, they sleep on Siddi’s roof, they fish in the Gulf of Oman and dream about going to India, they travel to the nature reserve to watch the sea turtles. At each stop, Siddi finds a small stone that he later slips into Aref’s suitcase—mementos of home.

My Review: A story about a boy leaving his home in Oman, friends, and his grandfather to move to America. He doesn’t think the kids in Michigan would like him and why should he move when he has everything he needs in Oman.  A story most kids can relate too.

Book Review: What Would the Founding Fathers Think?

What Would The Founding Fathers Think

What Would the Founding Fathers Think? A Young American’s Guide to Understanding What Makes Our Nation Great and How We’ve Strayed by David Bowman

ABOUT THE BOOK: With wit, humor, and the occasional serious note, David Bowman brings the founding fathers back to life, showing how they might react to America’s current political pickle. By skillfully illustrating the problems our nation will face and presenting them in an interactive format, this book is bound to bring any teen into the political process. And it’s so much fun adults will want to read it too!

My Review: What would the founding fathers think? This is just the right question anyone would ask due to the country’s current crisis. According to history, the founding fathers signed the constitution forming a nation unlike anything the world had ever known. The founding fathers Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and James Madison inspired by God, created the United States of America and the signed constitution it to protect certain God given rights and offer freedom.

The author listed three facts that every young American needs to realize…

1) The United States of America was and is the greatest nation on Earth. 2) Today the United States of America is in serious trouble. 3) You will inherit the USA and its problems in just a few short years.

Now, if you are a founder of a company you would from time to time visit the company for progress reports. What if the founding fathers could see what is going on in the present day, would they be pleased or not? Well, with wit and humor, and the occasional serious note, the author David Bowman brings the founding fathers back to life in this comic strips book.

Benjamin Franklin invited George Washington and James Madison to see his latest invention, the Fantastic Future Forecaster a time machine which can transport them to the future to see the destiny of America. So they stepped into the time machine and traveled to the 21st century. You can see the excitement on their faces,

photo (1)

“Have they stayed true to what we intended for this nation? Have they “kept” the Republic we gave them? Have they honored the Constitution and what is stands for?” They couldn’t wait to see as the time machine lands and they open the door and the expression on their faces dropped. They wanted to know what happened to the ideals and principles, have the American people forgotten their roots?

They decided to equip the young generation with knowledge by using what Benjamin calls SKYPE to answer questions by chatting to young people.

They chat about God and Religion leading to Values and Virtues to People Govern Themselves and more. This book may or may not help young people understand why America is great or what has gone wrong with America, but it will inspire them to think what they want their America to become.
