Book/Author Spotlight. Giveaway. Jorie and the Magic Stones. Ends Jan 6th

25397738

About the Book: When Marjorie went to live with her frosty maiden aunt, she couldn’t imagine the adventures she would have with dragons — good and bad — and all the strange creatures that live in a mysterious land beneath the Tarn. The spunky 9-year-old redhead forges an unlikely friendship with an insecure young boy named Rufus who lives with his crusty grandfather next door. When Jorie — for that is what she prefers to be called — finds a dusty ancient book about dragons, she learns four strange words that will send the two of them into a mysterious land beneath the Tarn, riddled with enchantment and danger. Hungry for adventure, the children take the plunge, quite literally, and find themselves in the magic land of Cabrynthius.

Upon meeting the good dragon, the Great Grootmonya, Jorie and Rufus are given a quest to find the three Stones of Maalog — stones of enormous power — and return them to their rightful place in Cabrynthius. Their mission is neither easy nor safe, and is peppered with perils in the form of the evil black half-dragon who rules the shadowy side of the land. They have to deal with a wicked and greedy professor, the tragic daughter of the bad dragon, caves of fire, rocky mountainous climbs, and a deadly poisonous butterfly.

Jorie must rely on her wits and courage to win the day? Can she do this? Can she find all three Stones? Can she save Rufus when disaster befalls him? Can she emerge victorious? She and Rufus have some hair-raising challenges, in which they learn valuable lessons about loyalty, bravery, and friendship.  https://ahrichardson.com/jorie-and-the-magic-stones/

About the Author: I have done a little of everything – I was an actress for a few years in England; I have loved horses all my life, and have taught Dressage which I loved. I paint in watercolors, oils and acrylics, I sculpt, and now I write…and have found this last activity wonderful, challenging, sometimes frustrating, but always uplifting – there is something about a spoken word written on a page, that brings one to life. It is creativity lived at the max!
My second book is a slight departure from flying dragons and brave little nine-year olds, titled ‘Murder in Little Shendon’ it pulls you into a tiny little village in England shortly after World War Two, and involves the talents of Sir Victor Hazlitt and his actor sidekick Beresford Brandon, along with a host of delectable characters that I feel the readers will love!
I had enormous fun writing this…however pulling all the strings together at the end is quite challenging. I love the combication of Hazlitt and Brandon, and plan a second murder mystery involving this winsome twosome!
I have written a sequel to my first book ‘Jorie and the Magic Stones’ which will be out soon; this had a very good following, and several people have been looking for further adventures of young Jorie and Rufus. https://ahrichardson.com/about/

About the Book: The Promise

From the lost Journals of the New York Times bestselling Seven Wonders series comes the story of how Atlantis came to rest at the bottom of the sea.

Follow the threads of history back to ancient times. Two Atlantean princes, Karai and Massarym, obsessed with power and terrified of the mysterious Loculi, turned against it each other in a bitter rivalry. With the future of the world at stake and nowhere to turn for guidance, the fourteen-year-old brothers chose fear over trust, deception over truth, and violence over brotherhood, and they change the course of history forever.

About the Book: Are you ready for Ivy Pocket? The wickedly funny, completely unreliable maid of no importance returns—this time as a coffin maker’s daughter—in this action-packed sequel to Anyone but Ivy Pocket. School Library Journal says, “Fans of . . . Book Review/Giveaway: And in the Morning: Field of Conflict – The Somme, 1916. Ends Apr 14th

and-in-the-morning1

And in the Morning: Field of Conflict – The Somme, 1916 by John Wilson

About the Book: Fifteen-year-old Jim Hay believes that war is a glorious adventure and cannot wait for his turn to fight. But as his father boldly marches off to battle in August 1914, Jim must be content to record his thoughts and dreams in his journal. All too quickly, however, Jim’s simple life begins to unravel. His father is killed in action, his mother suffers a breakdown and, when he does at last join up, it is as much to find refuge as it is to seek glory. What Jim discovers in the trenches of France is enough to dispel any romantic view of the war. Soon, his longing for adventure is replaced by a basic need to survive and the final tragic outcome is one he never could have imagined. The first installment in the Fields of Conflict series, “And in the Morning” will appeal to young readers aged fourteen to sixteen.  http://www.wanderingfoxbooks.com/and-in-the-morning/

After his father was killed in action and his mother suffering a breakdown. Jim decided it was time to join the fight. But his views about the war wasn’t what he taught. He wrote in his journal  the horrors of the war and the loss of innocent lives. Now he must fight to stay alive long enough to return home.

About the Author: I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, but I grew up on the Isle of Skye (I could speak some Gaelic when I was four), and in Paisley, outside Glasgow. I was troubled teen and only applied myself in high school when someone said I couldn’t do something. One time I was in the Principal’s office for some forgotten reason, and he said I would never amount to anything. That annoyed me and I set out to prove him wrong, (was he smart?). Anyway, I went to St. Andrews University and did an Honours Degree in Geology. I worked in Zimbabwe, but there was a war on, so I came to Alberta and worked in Edmonton for ten years. I started freelance writing in 1989 and moved out to Vancouver Island in 1991 to write full time.  Read more about the author http://johnwilsonauthor.com/page5/page5.html
