Keepsake that Educates!

Book Spotlight & Giveaway: Arlo, The Blue, Blue Whale. Ends Sept 23rd

About the Story: The “tail” of Arlo the Blue, Blue Whale all started in Akron, Ohio where Janet Alberti raised four children, Danny, Katy, Jenny and Andrea. Many years later, the three sisters co-founded Amelia Street Studio, a creative agency. Not long after, Danny became father to Arlo, a boy, not a whale. For little Arlo’s 1st birthday, Janet wrote the story of Arlo the Whale, inspired by one of Andrea’s posters of Andy Warhol that said, “I think everybody should like everybody” – a universal message that she wanted to teach her first grandson. With help from Jenny, who illustrated all the pages, Janet’s vision came to life and a book was made. The three sisters wanted to share this beautiful story of acceptance and friendship with more children. So, they partnered up with Appoet, a couple of cool guys, to turn the book into something interactive and fun. And ta-da! But wait! This story can’t end without mentioning Curt Alberti, a husband and father who always lived his life embracing other’s differences and taught his children the value of “liking everybody”.

Written by Janet Alberti and Illustrated by Jenny Alberti

Without planning it, our business has been in the works since we were knee-high. While growing up on Amelia Street in Akron, Ohio, we spent hours upon hours creating, crafting, building, and filming. Whether it was sewing clothes for our dolls or producing a mock news show, we have been collaborating as a sister team nearly our whole lives. It wasn’t intentional that our individual career paths would complement each other so perfectly, but we are pretty happy they do.
