My Review: Shimmer the glowworm lives in a cave, in a Me Tree in Woodland. She will watch as other glowworms show their glow. They dance to the sound of crickets and play games. But Shimmer wouldn’t join them as she had a low glow. So she decided to go on a journey to find her glow.

On her journey, she met Ollie the Owl, and told him about having a low glow and that she was on a journey to find it. Ollie tells her that the answer may be inside of her. Shimmer told Ollie that he was wise and has a lot of wisdom. The Owl sat up straight, fluffed his feathers and said to Shimmer that he does have a lot of ideas and would like to help others. He was happy and notice that Shimmer glow has started to glow. “It is?” asked Shimmer. “It is,” said Ollie. He said goodbye and flew off. As she continues her journey she came across and helped Crayon the Chameleon, Kiki the Kangaroo, Scout the Raccoon, and each time her glow became brighter. She decided to go back to Woodland and see the other glowworms and tell them about her journey. The closer she got the brighter she got and glowed in every color. They were so happy to see her and they followed her back to her tree and she saw that the leaves had words on them that said, wisdom, color, bounce, curiosity, love and lot more words. The Me Tree reflected all the things that she had learned on her journey helping those she met along the way.

I enjoyed reading this book and everyone should have a copy for their young ones. Let them know that they have wisdom, color, bounce, curiosity, love and lot more inside them. This book also encourage children to help others which in turn should make them happy. The illustrations by Natalie Kelly helps tell the story with very strong and bold beautiful colors.

FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.

  1. This is an adorable book and very catchy & upbeat song. Thank you Ella for the post. One of my youngest grandsons would love this since he’s into worms of all kinds lately. :).
