Book Review: Stick Dog. VOL 1, 3 and 4
Stick Dog by Tom Watson. A really Good Story with kind of Bad Drawing. VOL 1
When Stick Dog gets a whiff of hamburgers grilling at Picasso Park, he knows he has to get one. Along with his stray dog friends – A Dalmatian named Stripes, a Dachshund named Karen, a mutt named Mutt and a Poodle named Poo-Poo – Stick Dog embarks on an epic quest to snatch those fantastic-smelling burgers.
It’s not an easy task. On the way, Poo-Poo gets attacked by a squirrel, Karen gets lost and Stripes becomes convinced that the family at the park is really a band of super-warrior humans.
What they need is a plan – but Stick Dog’s friends are, umm, not very good at coming up with realistic burger-snatching strategies.
Using teamwork, patience and skill, the question is this: Will Stick Dog guide them safely to a delicious dinner? http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780062110787#
Stick Dog Chases a Pizza VOL 3
In Stick Dog Chases a Pizza, Tom Watson’s hilarious follow-up to Stick Dog and Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog, Stick Dog returns with the same crazy crew. This time these canine friends have discovered a newfangled flavor—and it’s even more delicious than hamburgers and hot dogs. It’s pizza! And they won’t be satisfied until they get some slices of their own. But it won’t be that easy. There’s a kitten to rescue, a plan to make, and the messiest—and most dangerous—game of catch they’ve ever played. Pizza is on the menu, but only if their mission succeeds. Perfect for fans of Big Nate, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and the previous Stick Dog books. http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780062278050
Stick Dog Dreams of Ice Cream. VOL 4
The Stick Dog series continues in author-illustrator Tom Watson’s hilarious Stick Dog Dreams of Ice Cream. In the follow-up to Stick Dog, Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog, and Stick Dog Chases a Pizza, Stick Dog and his pals are back, but this time the temperature is rising and they’re all feeling the heat. They need cold, cold ice cream on this hot, hot day. It will take all of Stick Dog’s smarts to guide his friends to a scrumptious ice cream feast. They’ll battle a water-attacking machine, discover rainbow puddles, and chase the strangest, loudest truck they’ve ever seen. But there’s a looming threat to their mission—Stick Dog gets spotted by a human. And the police are on his tail. If he’s captured, Stick Dog may never see his friends again. If he escapes, it’s ice cream for everyone. Perfect for fans of Big Nate, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and the previous Stick Dog books. http://www.harpercollins.com/9780062278074/stick-dog-dreams-of-ice-cream

My Review: Like I say in my past review, If you enjoy reading the wimpy kid series you may want to try something different. The Stick Dog series by Tom Watson are hilarious. In vol 1, Stick is always super hungry. Follow Stich Dog and his friends on a quest to find the perfect Hamburgers! But how will they ask the humans for hamburgers . Kids will enjoy reading this book.
In Stick Dog Chases a Pizza, Stick Dog and his friends found that Pizza was even more delicious than hamburgers and hot dogs. As they went about looking for a Frisbee to play they came across a cardboard pizza circle with delicious smells. After tasting what was left on it they devise a plan on how to get some pizza.
In Stick Dog Dreams of Ice Cream, the weather is getting hot and Stick Dog and his friends are feeling the heat and need to cold down. They hear an ice cream truck and decided to get themselves some. Poo-Poo sat down on the end of the seesaw, it sank down and he slide down the seesaw. After many attempts to get into the truck and failed, Stick Dog finally concludes that he will jump into the ice cream truck using a seesaw while his friends sat at the end of the seesaw. He rose as high as the board would lift him to the exact height of the truck’s window. Will he be able to get his friends some ice cream or would he get caught?
The Stick Dog series are fun books for the kids. The illustrations are helps tell the stories.
