Book Spotlight: Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The Long Haul. #9
About the Book: A family road trip is supposed to be a lot of fun . . . unless, of course, you’re the Heffleys. The journey starts off full of promise, then quickly takes several wrong turns. Gas station bathrooms, crazed seagulls, a fender bender, and a runaway pig—not exactly Greg Heffley’s idea of a good time. But even the worst road trip can turn into an adventure—and this is one the Heffleys won’t soon forget. http://www.wimpykid.com/books/book9/
Excerpt from the Book
My Review: This is the 9th book in the Wimpy Kid series. And the family embarks on a road trip. Would it be a fun trip to Disney World or visiting their aunt Loretta in a nursing home. This trip was full of adventures which made the story interesting to read. Was the trip a total disaster? Well, loosing their credit cards, money, having to deal with a noisy and troublesome baby pig, sleeping in a dirty motel which smelled like mildew, carpet covered in weird stains and their room reeking of smoke would suggest so.
Would Greg and Rodrick behave themselves on this trip or get into mischief or would it turn out to be a great road trip? Overall, it was an interesting read that kids will enjoy reading and laughing about.

The 2nd graders in my classroom love these books. They’ll be excited to know there’s a 9th book. Thanks for the review.
I have not heard of this series of books…I will look for them to purchase for my grandkids….lol…sounds like our family vacations when I was a kid 🙂
I have just found out about these books (from one of my 11 year old students) and I’m up to the fifth book in the series…Greg’s attitude to life seems very similar to Calvin’s of the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. Just Greg has two brothers instead of a cuddly tiger that transmogrifies to a real tiger in Calvin’s imagination.
