Book Review: Oddrey Joins the Team

Oddrey Joins the Team Written and illustrated by Dave Whamondr

About the Book: Oddrey’s back for a third adventure, this time bringing her exuberant spirit to the soccer field. Maybelline encourages Oddrey to join the school team, the Piccadilla Bees, and it’s not long until their big game against the Quagville Crushers. The Bees struggle to find their stride, but Oddrey is convinced she has a solution. True to form, she thinks that if her teammates bring their own individual talents — dancing, karate-kicking, and cartwheeling — to bear on the problem, they may just have a shot!

My Review: Oddrey loves to play sports. She likes to come up with ways to enjoy the games, like balancing on a ball while spinning another with one finger. Her friend Maybelline asked her to take part in their school soccer team against Quagville Crushers, but how can she when she plays soccer differently than the other kids. At practice, Oddrey showed the kids style of playing soccer. What an interesting technique said the coach. Now Oddrey must come up with a plan to defeat the other team. Will her plan work?

Every kid will enjoy reading this book as it’s full of fun and good ideas on how to make up your own game. The illustration by the author helps bring the characters to life with bold and bright colors. A fun read for every kid’s class.
