My Review: Big Nate is back and this time he is Mr. Popularity. In this issue, Big Nate decided to run for Class President. But he thinks that the process is flawed. Then again why should the popular kids be the only ones to get elected, and not the unpopular kid like him? Will Big Nate become Class President or will the popular kids win again?

Follow Nate as he goes to summer reading program, an opportunity to get his comic strip in the newspaper, trick-or-treat, t’was the Nate before Christmas and many more strips.

Another funny book kids would love to read. It has bonus activities to crack you up. Write your own caption action, match sketch to strip, trivia and more.

  2. My youngest loves Big Nate, which is saying something because he is a reluctant reader. This is one series I can count on to get him reading on his own without my nagging. He’s been checking on the progress of this series regularly.

  5. My kids have started to enjoy the comic style books a lot more lately, so I can see them being very interested in this for that reason…plus it sounds like a fun storyline! 🙂

  7. This is the appropriate reading level for my son, so I know he will enjoy it. It sounds like it will teach him a great life lesson about not having to be a popular kid, and how ordinary kids can succeed.

  8. My son has enjoyed reading both the Comix and the other Big Nate books as well. This series is one that he faithfully reads and looks forward to new releases. I am glad there are series out there tailored for boys since it seems like a lot more are written for girls.

I have never heard of a Big Nate book in the past, but your review makes it sound like a fun book to read I remember running for class president way back in the 60″s and it is a very hard thing to do, was a small school so I had a chance, but dropped out, ugh, related to all the work and dad was in the military and we were being transferred, ugh , I think it would be fun for my granddaughters to read this boo,

  13. My 3rd graders love the Big Nate books. Sometimes it is so hard to get them involved in chapter books, but once someone gets hooked on these books, the others like to join in. Kids like funny books that they can relate to.

  18. Big Nate is so popular in my school that I buy them no matter what they’re about, but the class election theme has been done to death. I like your brief description of the plot and some of the additional activities in the book, but would like to know more about what you thought about character development, how the plot unfolded, etc. I hadn’t seen this new title, so thanks for the heads up!
