Zodiacts: Gemini Jamboree by Donna McGarry

 Leo Limelight Lunacy

Zodiacts: Leo Limelight Lunacy: Dance of the Dueling Divas by Donna McGarry

Donna McGarry’s Zodiacts: Leo Limelight Lunacy: Dance of the Dueling Divas introduces the five to eight year old crowd to the creative energy of the Leo Moon. The action begins when the irrepressible Starrkitty discovers her competitor, Lola Leo, headlining a solo show. Kit is fit to be tied and scrambles to produce a rival spectacle. When she discovers that some aspects of show biz, such as costuming and sound mixing, are best left to the experts, Kit goes Aquarian and assembles a stellar crew to help her shine. Which leading lady will steal the limelight under this attention craving Moon? Merging celestial imagery with verbal whimsy, Zodiacts: Leo Limelight Lunacy humorously explores themes of egomania and self-absorption.

A Whimsical Introduction

Zodiacts: A Whimsical Introduction to Celestial Beings by Donna McGarry

Zodiacts: A Whimsical Introduction to Celestial Beings introduces young folks to the concepts of astrology in a light-hearted, whimsical manner. Follow the Moon as she weaves her way through the constellations, illuminating the stars and their loony behavior. Merging surreal visual imagery with rhyming text this is a fun bedtime read for the younger set.

My Review:

Zodiacts Gemini Jamboree: This book introduces the zodiact sign Gemini having fun. When the moon is in Gemini that’s the time to catch up with friends, play a games, a day to try something new, a visit to the shops and many more. The illustrations are creative and unique with interesting rhymes which help tells the story.

Zodiacts a whimsical introduction to celestial beings is an accurate title for this book. Depending on which galaxy the moon visit she finds out their loony behavior, because their mood is affected by the whims of the moon.

It is interesting to find out that Leo feels daring and brave when the moon is in Aries or when the moon is in Capricorn its time for structured plotting and scheming. An interesting read that would hold any child’s attention.

Zodiacts: Leo Limelight Lunacy: Dance of the Dueling Divas: When the moon is in Leo it is time to have fun, time to put on a show, time to stand up proud and be full of confidence. With rhyming dialogue this book is creative and will hold any child’s attention.

FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of these books from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.

  2. These look like so much fun! I am curious if this would teach me anything about astrology. My daughter loves planets. I think she’d love this.

Comment by Larissa Brunken | April 2, 2014 | Reply

    • Thanks Larissa. The books do teach astrology in a very lighthearted way. For instance, in ‘Leo Limelight’, Lola Leo, like many a Leo, is a creative, outgoing character who craves attention. In ‘Gemini Jamboree’ Jaime Gemini loves to spread news, use the latest techie gadgets, in ‘Aries Adventure’ Andy Aries is courageous, brave and daring. A joyful way to experience the energies of the zodiac.

  6. I like that the books are interesting and rhyming for younger children. The idea of using stars is interesting and I think my older child would like the books but may be too much for my younger one.

    Comment by Holly | April 4, 2014 | Reply

    • Thanks Holly. I have 2 of the books done interactively for iPad, which the younger kids love. But, mostly I’d say the books speak to the 4-8 year old crowd.
