My Review:  Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Stinks: A kid’s guide to the lighter side of life by Bill King is the perfect book to help build self esteem. What is Stinkin’ Thinkin’ Skinks? It is the negative thoughts that stink. Like when all you think about is how bad things are and don’t see the good things happening around you.

The book goes on to explain the difference between a negative thinking and a positive thinking.

For example -: “First, picture the park during a time when someone wasn’t being nice to you. They wouldn’t take turns, they said something mean to you, they made fun of you…..etc How do you feel right now? You probably feel pretty bad. That STINKS! Now try the second part of the experiment. Go back to the same park in your mind. Think about a time when you did something you were really proud of. You jumped out to the swing and landed on your feet, you made the perfect sand castle, or you made friends with another person because you let them go ahead of you in line…” Now you feel much better. So all you have to do is think about good things more.

The book makes us aware of how negative thinking affects lives and how people may be attracted to it without even realizing it. Negative thinking is something we all do and need to work on. This book gives great exercises, fun activities and illustrations to help children learn about defeating negative thoughts and turning it into positive thoughts. To build up their self confidence and self esteem.

Now it’s time to get rid of STINKIN’ THINKIN’ because negative thoughts STINK!

  8. This books sounds like a wonderful book on positive thinking and always looking towards the bright side of things cause if you start negative stinking thinking nothing will turn out right as your mind will always see the negative.
