My Review: This is a fun and educational book to help educate parents and children about cystic fibrosis. This thick and sticky mucus clogs the lungs and leads to a life threatening lung infections and obstructs the pancreas.

This story is about boy name Kory, who is battling cystic fibrosis that currently has no cure. Kory has to deal with this disease as it’s a part of his everyday life. He wakes up sneezing out sticky icky booger bugs. His mother helps him with his medicine routine. He uses his blue and purple inhaler and he wears the shaker vest for 30 minutes to help loosen the sticky booger bugs. Kory doesn’t allow this disease to stop him from play with his friends or his playing his favorite game soccer.

Sherry Frith wrote Sticky Icky Booger Bugs after her sons Kory and Kevin were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. The illustrations by Carol Newell Walter help to tell the story. I love her use of pencils and crayons.

  6. This would be the perfect book to either help the children that have Cystic Fibrosis, but this would be even better for the siblings or classmates of the child too. I really am impressed by authors that take the time to write something for kids on such a delicate issue. To be able to have it be entertaining as well as educational is really priceless.
