Book Review: Scary School – The Northern Frights by Derek the Ghost
Scary School – The Northern Frights by Derek the Ghost and Illustrated by Scott M. Fischer
About the Book: Charles Nukid and his friends including new student Lattie, a tough ninja girl – take on their biggest challenge yet in this frighteningly funny addition to the Scary School series. When they’re chosen to attend Scream Academy as exchange students, they’ll have to face:
- Rolf Meltington – the principal of Scream Academy and the abominable snowman
- Polter – bears – part poltergeist, part polar bear …totally frightening
- The Headless Horseman – don’t lose your head in his class
But there’s something even scarier than going to school with yetis, ogres, and trolls: the Ice Dragon. As an ancient prophecy comes to pass, Charles finds himself destined to battle the monstrous Ice Dragon in order to save both Scream Academy and Scary School from destruction.
My Review: Once again, our humble series narrator ex-student and full-time ghost, Derek is back in the 3 series of Scary School The Northern Frights.
In this series a group of students from Scary School were selected by Principal Meltington to attend Scream Academy as exchange students for a week. Charles and every other student were not happy for it could be their last time on earth. Scream Academy is much scarier and terrifying than Scary School. If Derek the Ghost is scared out of his wits, then you are in for some spectacular frights.
According to Principal Meltington, Scream Academy is where ferocious monsters come to use their brains as well as their claws to learn. Unlike Scary School, there are no human students at the Scream Academy and the monster kids don’t want them there.
When Charles heard that the ice dragon was heading toward the school to destroy it for good, he learns that they must work together with the other students from the Scream Academy to defect the ice dragon in order to survive or lose their school.
The Northern Frights was definitely an entertaining book. And if you’re a fan of the series, then you will love this book. Great pencil work Illustration by Scott M. Fischer which helps bring the story to life.
If you are looking for a book full of fun and adventure for your kids pick up a copy of Scary School books 1 – 3.
