About the Book: One day during recess, twin brothers Alex and Tony see their friend EJ standing alone and looking very sad. After talking to him, they find out that EJ isn’t playing because he was told he couldn’t, by a bully named Manny in his class. EJ tells Alex and Tony that Manny has been bothering him for quite some time and he’s afraid. At home, the siblings discuss EJ’s problem with their parents and learn all about bullying. Alex and Tony are worried about their friend and realize that it’s their responsibility to help.

My Review: This is an interesting topic that children and parents can relate too. After Alex and Tony found EJ standing alone in the gym and had a sad look on his face, they decided to find out what was wrong. EJ explained to them that their school mate Manny told him not to play with anybody. Manny bothered him all the time and he wish he didn’t even have to come to school.

Later that day Alex and Tony asked their parent why are some kids so mean? They told them about EJ and Manny. Their parent explained to them that bullying is wrong and that the only way to help is to report the bully.

Please note, If  you or someone is been bullied you should talk to someone you trust. Children have the power to reduce bullying in schools by speaking up.

This is a great book for parents to read to their children and for teachers to share with their students, to educate them about bullies and the signs of bullying.

The art works by Dia Reddo helps tell the story. I highly recommend this book in all school.

  1. I would definitely like to have this book for my class; even though the kids are only 7 or 8 years old, they still face bullying even as “small” as too much teasing or insensitive comments.

  5. my children have had a really bad time in school. But my oldest has had kids urinate on his jacket. Stick pens into his head and he would come home with bloody noses and swollen eyes. I had spoke several times with the principal and looked at the tapes from the bus rides home. The school do nothing and in some cases even reward the bullies. I have been home schooling my kids for four years now and will NEVER trust the public school system again.

  6. I would definitely love to have this book for my 8 year old daughter. This way she can see the results of bullying without having to experience either side and hopefully it will sway her from ever picking on another kid. Thanks for the great opportunity!

  7. I am an elementary school librarian and I’ve been working on adding good books about bullying to our collection. Oh we have some in our parenting/professional collection, but I’ve been looking for books that kids can read and relate to. Alex and Tony Help Stop Bullying sounds like just they kind of book we need.

  8. I was bullied a lot in middle school. It got so bad that I had to transfer to different school. I told counselors about it all the time and they never did anything. Nobody ever received any repercussions. It wasn’t an issue back then. The ideology was “Kids will be kids.” I’m glad it’s become such a big issue and has been increasing in awareness.

  9. Such an important topic. This is a book all children should read or have read to them. My grandson is only 7 but he told us how a boy in his class was bullying another classmate and he came to his defense. He said it wasn’t very nice what that boy said. My thought was such a young child to be bullying anyone. Very sad. Thanks for the chance to win.
