My Review:  If you are looking for new ways to read the bible then pick up a copy of The Voice New Testament Bible. It represents a new approach to the Bible translation while sticking to the original translation. People find it difficult to read the Bible, but the Voice reads more like a story. It helps to bring each character and events closer to the reader.

Quote: The Voice helps them to encounter “the glory of the Lord” and be “transformed by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Cor. 3:18).

You will also find parts of the Voice Bible written in screenplay format for example:

Matthew 21:28-29

Father: Go and work in the vineyard today.

Son: No, I will not. 

John 4:49-50

Official: Sir, this is my son; please come with me before he dies.

Jesus (interrupting him): Go home. Your son will live.

The only negative thing that I have to say about the Voice is that I find the print too small. If you like reading novels this one is for you.

  2. So interesting that after all these years of Biblical translation, we finally have a Bible as a story. I suppose Eugene Peterson paved the way for this, with his semi-radical paraphrase of the Bible. Our lives are stories- created by the Master story teller. So great to read the Bible in the form of a story!

  4. I’ve always had a problem figuring out what the characters in the Bible were saying. This would not only be perfect for me, but I could read this to my kids as well.

  8. Always looking for a way to read and understand the Bible. This appeals to the writer in me. I have a contemporary version of the Bible and I was able to understand a good deal of it. But like it lists above, there are some things we won’t understand unless we know the customs prevalent during the time.

  9. I have heard of this version for a while now and I think it’s amazing how they got all the people together to do this project!! I think it would be great to get a new take so to speak on the stories of the New Testament, which is why I would love to win this giveaway!! I have a couple of Bibles that I read every day, and this would be a great addition to my daily worship 🙂

  10. I love to read novels, so this sounds like something I would enjoy. It always helps with Bible studies to read more than one translastion also, so it would be interesting to have a more contemporary version.

  11. My faith is really important to me and I’m always trying to find new ways to study it. I think the part about having the italicized info of what people back then would have known instinctively is something that’s really cool because context can really help you understand what’s going on.

  12. I’ve always been a Christian but have only started to read the Bible in the past few years. Sometimes I have a hard time understanding what I am reading so The Voice would be perfect for me.

  13. I would love to own this book! I’ve always been fond of reading novels and have been searching for Christian books that I can read to my kids during bedtime. My kids love reading, too! My family is now in a country where practicing Christianity and even reading or carrying the Bible is not allowed so I know I can’t join this contest. 😦 I just hope there will be another contest that includes non-US residents. 🙂

  14. The Voice: New Testament sounds like children’s Bible Stories written for adults. I think it would be interesting to read. However, I think the small print will limit the number of adults who read it.

  20. I find the concept of the Bible recast as a literary work intriguing. I think it would be very helpful for people who have trouble relating to its content.
