Book Review/Giveaway: Ella B. Jenkins meets First Lady Michelle Obama. Ends Feb 18th

Ella B. Jenkins meets First Lady Michelle Obama written by Eve Lynne, illustrated by Carlos Barnaby

About the Book: Ella B. Jenkins joins The President and the First Lady in discussing her feelings about the war. Mrs. Obama offers Ella a piece of fruit during the conversation and BO runs in and takes the piece of fruit right out of Ella s hands.. At the end of their conversation Ella and the class are invited to theWhitehouseGarden. However Ella B. may have other plans.

Book includes the Official Ella B. Jenkins Bookmark and 3″ x 3″ Fan Sticker.

My Review: After wandering off with the White House dog, Bo and meeting President Obama in the first book, Ella B. was excited to meet the First Lady Michelle Obama.

She discussed with them how she misses her father who is in the military and that she is making a scrapbook for her father with the letters she received from him as a surprise for him. She talked about learing new words and using them in her letter to her father. What a positive message about letter writing and influencing other children across the world that they too can win a contest.

Another well-written story targeted at ages 4 – 8. I recommend this book for classroom reading and discussion. The book also has questions for children to answer pertaining to the story at the back of the book.

Pages: 26

  5. My grandkids are fascinated with the White House & would enjoy the highjinks of Ella B.

On a side note, in September 2011 my huisband and I went on a White House tour. As we were in one of the halls looking at centuries of Presidential china, Bo & his caretaker went walking through the hall to get outside, and back in a few minutes later. That’s my brush with the Presidential family!
