Book Review & Giveaway – The Loud Book! By Deborah Underwood

The Loud Book! By Deborah Underwood illustrated by Renata Liwska

This is a sampling of conditions and situations, resulting, in this case, in loud noises, each portrayed by the cast of stuffed-animal characters. There is a broad range of noises depicted, from ringing alarm clocks, burping, cheering, applauding, and whistling to sounds created by dropping various items (lunch trays, marbles in the library, etc.).

My Review: A perfect book exploring sounds around us. It covers all sort of loud from alarm clocks loud to crickets loud. With great illustration from Reata Liwska, I loved the dropping your lunch tray loud. The expression on the faces of the animals were priceless. And never thought a deafening silence loud as LOUD! Great book for the classroom.

Ages: 4 – 8

  1. My granddaughter just turned six and this would be an awesome book to add to our bedtime or anytime reads.
Any thing “loud” gets her attention much more so than soothing reads.

  3. Although I prefer peace and quiet, I enjoy reading all kinds of books with my daughter(she’s partial to dinosaurs and dogs). She loves when I change my voice according to the characters and context.

This would be a great addition to her library. She loves to read her favorites over and over…

  6. My granddaughter Ava says “I’m kind of loud”. The child just cannot talk in normal volume. Just a quirk that we have come to accept and embrace. She would probably think she should have been included in The Loud Book!

  16. I like Meet the Author on FB (Annette E). My son is sensitive to loud noises, so he’d be able to relate to the animals in this book. I’m curious to see if he’d find the animals’ expressions to loud noises as funny?
