Book Review & Giveaway: Noah’s Swim-A-Thon by Ann D. Koffsky
Noah loves camp. He loves kickball, and arts and crafts, and singing, and being with his friends. But swimming makes his “arms feel goose-bumpy, his eyes feel stingy, and his nose feel stuffy.” Noah won’t go in the pool, until he learns about the camp swim-a-thon and how he can help other kids enjoy the camp he loves so much. Ann Koffsky’s joyful text and bright illustrations teach young children about the values of tzedakah and perseverance, while sharing the magic of Jewish summer camp. Noah’s Swim-a-Thon is sure to be a hit with both campers and their parents.
This is a story about a boy trying to get pass his fear of swimming. Even with the help of the lifeguard, Noah couldn’t find any good reason for entering the pool. Interesting part is when Noah did over come his fear after he had the opportunity to help contribute to tzedakah so that less fortunate kids could attend camp. It helps encourage children that no matter what they are afraid of they can surely overcome it.
I like the illustration done by the author using bright and bold colors to bring the book to life. Showing how Noah felt about swimming with the stingy, stuffy and bumpy on his body. I recommed this book. For Author’s interview with Mymcbooks click https://mymcbooks.wordpress.com/author-interviews/ Author’s website www.annkoffsky.com

Thanks, Ella!
Although my children fall both in the too young and too old categories, I know just the kid who I could give this to if I win. I know a little girl who is terrified of water and wants to overcome her fear very badly. She’s in third grade and reading quite well. This book would be perfect for her!

Ann is a wonderful writer, illustrator and swim instructor. She is patient and caring and helps each child overcome his or her fears or concerns about the water. I have seen her students thrive under her guidance- any child would be lucky to have her!!!
Noah came to life before my eyes and am so thrilled for others to read about him!!!!
Many families have a “Noah,” a child who is reluctant to get into the water, yet enjoys other aspects of summer camp. A zippy story that combines tzedakah and perseverance – a great duo for all children. A winner, with Ann’s ‘full of life’ illustrations, just as the camp season and swimming lessons are coming to the forefront of parents’ thoughts!

My son had a fear of swimming last year he could probably relate.

This book would be perfect for my 7 year old daughter because it teaches about not giving up when you are learning new skills. Sometimes she tries something wil not much efort and then gets frustrated and gives up. Thanks for the chance! I am an email subscriber.
