Book Review/Giveaway: Princess DisGrace 2: Second Term at Tall Towers and Shrinking Violet Absolutely Loves Ancient Egypt. Ends Aug 30th

DisGrace

Princess DisGrace 2: Second Term at Tall Towers by Lou Kuenzler illustrated by Kimberley Scott

About the Book: Princess Disgrace is about Princess Grace who (you guessed it!) is anything but graceful, in fact, she’s downright clumsy! Crammed full of royal pageants, dancing lessons and unicorn training, this cheeky yet charming series has had readers amused and moved in equal measure. Perfect for lovers of The Worst Witch, this new series has had readers rooting for our accident-prone heroine from the start.

My Review: Clumsy Grace is back at Tall Towers Academy for a second term with her unicorn Billy. On Fridays, princesses are allowed to ride their unicorns for an hour after school. Grace decided to ride her unicorn Billy to the top of a cliff on the shores of Coronet Island. With her binoculars she climbed up a tree trying to keep a look out for dragons. Are there dragons in Coronet Island? You will have to read the book to find out. LOL!

The story also shows a different side of Grace. Not only is she kind and caring to the animal, she is taking time out to be a proper princess by taking part in Ballet of the Flowers and trying hard to spend time with her friends. If only Grace wasn’t so clumsy!

I like that the book has a positive message for young girls. You may be clumsy but you are being true to yourself. Great illustration by Kimberley Scott which help tell the story.

Shrinking Violet

Shrinking Violet Absolutely Loves Ancient Egypt by Lou Kuenzler

About the Book: Violet Potts is CRAZY about Ancient Egypt. When Gran wins a cruise down the River Nile, Violet thinks she might EXPLODE with excitement. Especially when her cousin Anthony is invited along too! But when they’re drawn into a SPOOKY mystery of CURSED tombs and VANISHING cats, Violet starts to wonder whether the other tourists might not be all they seem…Sometimes being little brings history to LIFE!

My Review: Violet’s Gran is crazy about puzzles and when she visits she does loads of crosswords and word searches with her. This time this puzzle was about Ancient Egypt and very tricky, because there was no list of the hidden words or clues to guide them. While thinking of clues Violet read the fine print below the puzzle “Win an all expenses paid cruise down the Nile and take part in an archaeological dig at a real Ancient Egyptian temple.” After finding the missing word, Violet was so excited but she had to wait and not get her hopes up.

After a few days while out with Gran, Gran picked up a copy of Solved It! And found out that they have won a family trip for four to sail down the Nile and take part Ancient Egyptian archaeological dig.

Violet was so happy but praying at the same time not to shrink for people will see her disappear in front of their eyes. When no one was looking Violet shrink to a size of a train ticket and cartwheel across the table in delight. Gran scooped her up and popped her into her pocket.

Take a journey with Violet to Egypt as she takes time out spy on the other tourists, solving mysteries and sneaking into hidden places at the museum and more all while shrinking to a tiny person.
