Now the characters of the Grimms’ stories walk among us. With every day that passes, they grow more evil. They are the Corrupted, and only a hero can stop them.

For 18-year-old Alice Goodenough, that means taking precious time off from her summer vacation. In addition to volunteering at the local library, Alice must stop the Corrupted who are now actively hunting her down. With the help of her magic pen and her trusty rabbit friend, the world has suddenly gotten a lot more complex. The Corrupted are everywhere, and only Alice can see them for what they truly are.

My Review

Book 7: The Giant Slayer Europe: birthplace of Grimms’ Fairy Tales. Meet Alice Goodenough, 18 years old who is a hero ready to take on any form of dangers, new monsters and new surprises. Alice and her fencing team set off to Europe for a fencing tournament in Romania paid by Mr. Sam Grayle. Mr. Grayle  decided to fully fund their trip with one important thing in mind, to use Alice to find a hidden treasure.

Book 8: Darkness Rising 200 years ago, the Brothers Grimm brought their stories to life. Not only does she has to find the hidden treasure but also worry about her team as they found out that they were no match against the other fencers who look more experience and full of energy.

Book 9: Malevolence. As the stories develop, Alice’s body is breaking down from constant battle. Her loved ones are in danger so she must prepare and find new strength to battle. She must face off against the ancient evil that lurks within Castle Vontescue.

What a great read packed with adventures. I love the TV series Grimm and this book is all about Grimm. If you love reading about Werewolves, Vampires, Monsters and Giants then the Grimm Chronicles is the best book to read. But wait, there’s a cliffhanger at the end of Vol 3. Watch out for Vol 4. I hope so.

FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.

  2. I have always loved the real Grimm fairy tales. I grew up reading the unadulterated versions, with violence and gore galore and loved every one. I never seem to remember to turn the TV on to watch anything and haven’t yet watched Grimm, so this book sounds as if it can help me make up for some lost time. Thank you for a spoiler-free review.

    • I forgot that I wanted to say that the original Brothers Grimm books were one of my favorite when I was a lot younger, and I think that these new tellings and Alices adventure in Romania and her attempt’s to protect her team sound interesting. and I would love to read The Grim Chronicles by Isabella Fontaine and Ken Brosky

  4. There seems to be so many new books “updating” Grimm’s Fairy Tales lately. But I love the originals and I would enjoy seeing how they are written today.

  7. I had never heard of this series. It sounds like something I would really like. What age is it for? I’m wondering if it would be to old for my boys even for a night time chapter book.
