Book Review/Giveaway: The First Dog by D.A. Brogdon. Ends Sept 30th
About the Author: David Brogdon has been a pastor, teacher, and apostle in the body of Christ for 30 years. He travels extensively across the world. His desire is to open the hearts of God’s people to learn and see the treasures the Lord has for His people.

About the Book: Two brothers find a stray dog and take him in as their own. Read along as the boys’ parents teach them all the responsibilities that come along with owning a dog.
My Review: Two brothers David and Terry asked their father for a dog. He said, “When God brings you one, that is the one we will keep.” As the boys went out for a day of exploration, they heard the sound of barking and notice a yellow dog bouncing across the field in chase of a rabbit. The boys couldn’t believe that their prayers have been answered. They took the dog home and asked their father if they could keep him. With no dog tag their father agreed only if they clean, feed and take good care of the dog.
What a great message about believing and responsibility. David and Terry believed that God could, and still can, do anything if you only pray. The illustration by Joe Rollins helps tell the story. I highly recommend this book.

What a wonderful book! It teaches children that owning a dog is not all fun and games. They have responsibilities that the dog depends on them for. That’s wonderful.

This book conveys two wonderful messages I hope all kids can hear, the power of prayer and the responsible way to care for a dog. Thank you for sharing about this book.
I love that this book shows children the power of prayer, an answer to prayer and also shows that the care of pets involves work, responsibility and commitment.
I am trying very hard to instill in my daughter the power of prayer and I believe that this book will assist us greatly in this journey.

What a gret sounding book. We are a family of rescue dogs. Our kids love to take care of the dogs we have rescused and raised. They would love to read about this dog and the responsibilities they share.

I like that this teaches kids the power of prayer in a fun way that kids would enjoy
I do pet therapy with my dog and I know the difference that they can make in the lives they touch. I also teach a program called “Safety Sam” this program helps kids understand how to approach an unfamiliar dog. The volunteers in our program love visiting the children and many of our dogs have been to church too. I’m so grateful to God for all the blessing my dogs bring me.
I enjoy reading animal stories. Book that teach the importance of responsibility and compassion are definitely needed.
i gave these books to my grandson and he loved them! The message is so crucial, God, decision making, love and obedience and discipline. Which are not instilled in our children enough today. They are written in a way a 2 year old can grab hold of. The illustrations are bright and cheery! They are books where we can interact the love of one another, animals and God.
