Book Review/Giveaway: Jack Hunter Secret of the King. Ends March 28th
Jack Hunter Secret of the King by Martin King.
About the Book: A castle, chilling graveyards, secret passageways, historical clues and hidden treasure.Twelve year-old Jack Hunter’s life couldn’t get any worse. Forced to move home, ripped away from his friends and dragged to a town in the middle of nowhere. With the help of some new friends Jack discovers a centuries-old key that unlocks an historical secret. Twists, clues, red herrings and a host of potential suspects, can you unlock the Secret of the King?
My Review: Like any 12 years old, Jack Hunter did not want to leave his school and friends and move to a new place. During a visit to his grandfather house, his grandfather told him a story about a buried treasure he found and lost as a young boy. He made Jack promised never to tell anyone not even his parents and gave him a gold coin he had taken from the wooden box. While hanging out with his new friends Jack let slip to them about the treasure and the gold coin his grandfather gave him.
Suddenly he finds himself with Jules, Martin, Holly and BT on a hunt for the treasure as they tries to discover the secrets of the mystery gold coin. They had to race against time to find the treasure and solve the clues and puzzles as they where not the only ones looking for this treasure.
This book reminds me of The Famous Five, a British television series based on the children’s books of the same name by Enid Blyton. They always got caught up in adventures. The first few chapters I found to be slow pace but then it later picked giving us a story full of twists, clues, villains and the mystery of King Richard and theFour Corners. Overall, interesting read for young boys and girls.

Jack Hunter, Secret of the Kings has all the elements of an exciting read, a castle, hidden treasure, graveyards. Creepy but not too. The question is can you unlock the secret? It’s good to know that altho the reviewer felt that the first part of the book was a little slow, things picked up toward the end and the book turned out to be a worthwhile read for younger readers (and those adults of us who are still kids at heart). Thanks for the heads up!
What an exciting way for Jack to bond with his new friends and take his mind off having to move away from his school and friends. What could the Secret of the King be? I think my grandson would enjoy following along on Jack’s adventure.
This sounds like the perfect book for kids under a certain age. Adventure without being too scary would be perfect for kids maybe first too fifth, all matters but either way it sounds like an amazing adventure.

This sounds like a great read aloud story. We love adventure books.
Moving to a new place is always so upsetting for kids. Thus, I can relate to what Jack must have felt. He is lucky, he made friends and got engaged in an adventure of his life time. A unique touch is that his grandfather actually gave him a bit of the treasure – the gold coin. Generally, in most books, kids end up with only a badly drawn up map and no prior evidence of the existence of real treasure. Thanks for throwing this giveaway open internationally as I am from Mumbai, India
Cheers

I enjoy reading adventure stories and would love to find out if Jack and his friends are able to find the treasure.
